Fine Nine

Here are some of my favorite PI/cop series (and authors), in no particular order:

  • Jack Reacher (Lee Child)
  • Spenser (Robert B. Parker)
  • Elvis Cole (Robert Crais)
  • Harry Bosch (Michael Connelly)
  • Moe Prager (Reed Farrel Coleman)
  • Lucas Davenport (John Sandford)
  • Patrick Kenzie and Angie Gennaro (Dennis Lehane)
  • Tess Monaghan (Laura Lippman)
  • Louis Kincaid (PJ Parrish)

What are some of your favorites?

Alan - Well, you mentioned one of mine - Harry Bosch. What a great guy! And then (for me, anyway) there's Ian Rankin's John Rebus, Donna Leon's Guido Brunetti, Andrea Camilleri's Salvo Montalbano, and Martin Edwards' Hannah Scarlett/Daniel Kind. Oh, and Deborah Crombie's Gemma James/Duncan Kincaid. There are others too, but I don't want to clutter up your comment area ;-).

I'm in agreement with most - and don't disagree with any: you've hit a couple I haven't read ... yet. Since they're tucked in with my favorites, I have no doubts I'd enjoy them as well.

I also enjoy both Kellerman series, although more for the relationship/character stuff than the actual crime-solving. And I love the cops in PJ Tracy's Monkeewrench series.

I'm a big fan of the Inspector Lynley series based on Elizabeth George's books. I'm also fond of John Rebus by Ian Rankin although I admit the Scottish accents in the TV series can, at times, be somewhat incomprehensible to my ears.

I haven't read all these! I'll need to catch up. :) I'm with Margot and will add Deborah Crombie's partners in crime fighting there.

Margot - Thanks for the suggestions. So many good books to read, so little time!

Terry - Some of the plots in the Kellerman books are soooo convoluted. I agree, the character stuff is better.

Elspeth - Aren't Canadian accents similar to Scottish accents? :)

Naomi - I'll have to check those out. Thanks!

Elizabeth - Okay, I'll put Crombie on my check-out list, too!
