Have Book, Will Travel

I know it's August (I can tell by how hard the summer doldrums have hit me), but I've started thinking about my conference schedule for next year. DIAMONDS doesn't come out until April, so I'm concentrating on events after that (except for some local happenings).

Here's what I'm considering, so far:

Other possible conferences on my radar include:

(Unfortunately, Sleuthfest and Left Coast Crime are being held before April 1. They'll go on the 2011 list.)

I'm sure there are other great conferences I'm missing. Any recommendations?

This is a huge list! Wow. I'm sure you'll get a lot out of your year, though. Someone mentioned a conference in Atlanta to me, but I can't remember the details.

Nice summary, Alan.

Do you find attending conferences is a budget buster? Do you have any tips for controlling costs? Maybe that’s a post in itself. Lastly, have you achieved any “real-world,” tangible benefits through conference attending? That is, did you realize a payback.

Best Regards, Galen (Who apparently has conference questions.)

Elizabeth - Oh, just because it's on the list doesn't mean I'll actually be going. More like a wish list.

Galen - Those are excellent questions. I think I'll take your suggestion and blog about the benefits (or at least my opinion of the benefits). Look for it soon!

Alan, just had to drop by to say what a funny and clever post you left on Jack's blog about POV. That is Comment Hall of Fame stuff. Great work.

Magna cum Murder in Muncie, Indiana will be held again in 2010--probably late in October (this year it's being folded into Bouchercon in Indianapolis). Magna is smaller and more affordable than Bouchercon, and you have a good chance of being assigned to panels. Also, there's this incredibly wonderful candy maker...

I also loved Mayhem in the Midlands in Omaha when I went there in 2007.

I have to say that the information here was the most complete that I found anywhere. I am definitely bookmarking this to come back and read later.

By renting a car as well as a tour guide can make your Santorini travel more fun full and easy. This will also help visitors to know about the long history, get free pick up and drop off

Sadly the academy is closed during July and August, and concerts take place irregularly during this summer period, so it is best to call and check ahead of time before planning any day trips to hear concerts. property for sale Budapest
