Oooh, Shiny!

Give a man a fish, you have fed him for today.

Teach a man to fish, you have fed him for a lifetime.

Give a man Photoshop, you have unwittingly turned him into a forever-tinkering, graphic artist wannabe, never quite completely satisfied with his website, doomed to spend eternity fiddling with gradients and bitmap logos and mouseover images.

Just sayin'

talkingme2 The most current version of my website's facelift is now up and running at www.alanorloff.com . I'd love to hear what you think (hurry, before I decide to change something else!). While you're there, don't forget to join my email list.

If you have any suggestions, I'm sure they can be incorporated into next hour's version.

Thanks!

Alan - I really like it!! I am sooo impressed! Like Elizabeth, though, I'm now sadly thinking of my own poor little site.... Time to think about adding some pizzazz!

Wow. Nicely done. I would suffer from website envy if I had an official website. I do however suffer from Photoshop skill envy. I'm at the 'tying my shoes my own self' level.

I love the look of your website!

I want to learn Photoshop, I'm just afraid I'll spend more time playing with it than I should be once I get into it. How steep was the learning curve? Is it fairly intuitive?

Your site keeps looking better and more professional. Just like you.

Elizabeth - Thanks! I can report that website updating is a very effective procrastination technique.

Margot - Thanks! Pizzazz is snazzy!

Elspeth - Thanks! I thought all the shoes in Canada fastened with Velcro. (OK, to all my Canadian fans, this is a joke. Really. I love the great white North. Seriously. Please, no letters or hate mail.)

Ingrid - Thanks! Photoshop is very powerful. The flipside is it took me a while to figure it out, and I think I've only figured out a very small percentage of it. It seems like there is about 10 ways to do the same thing.

Galen - I don't look "beter and more professional." I look "more Photoshopped."

Can I just say, "ditto" to Elizabeth Spann Craig's comment - since I can't think of an original one of my own!?!

Alan Orloff said...

Jane - Yes, if I can just respond to you with, "Ditto what I said to Elizabeth." :)

I think it looks great. It has a clean look to it, I love blue and it is easy to navigate.

Alan it looks GREAT!

I envy your knowledge of Photoshop! And Elizabeth's expertise of Twitter! Ahh well... maybe someday.

Kerrie - Thanks! If I can't have a clean office, at least I can have a clean website.

Crystal - Thanks! The more I use Photoshop, the more I think it is evil. Powerful, but evil.

Teach a man to fish and you get rid of him for the entire weekend.

Since my son wrote several companion "how to" books on using both Nikon and Photoshop software, I figure he can handle anything I need. Of course, it's past time to deal with updating the site, but I've been told in no uncertain terms that there are things Mom CANNOT TOUCH. So I'll have to wait for him to find some time for me.

Terry - LOL! It must be nice having an expert as a relative. I suppose if I ever have to learn how to text 80 words per minute with two fingers, or pole vault, I'm all set.
